In the wake of Hurricane Beryl's impact on Houston, the interns of Bread of Life, Inc. (Founded by Dr. Rudy and Juanita Rasmus) have emerged as frontline heroes, spearheading relief efforts under the guidance of Amanda Sapp, VP of Media/ General Manager of Amazing 102.5 FM Powered by Bread of Life Inc. This collaborative effort, supported by key partners such as the University of Houston-Downtown, WorkTexas, Houston Area Urban League, and Texas Workforce Solutions, has made a profound impact on the community's recovery.
Since the hurricane struck, Bread of Life, Inc., a renowned nonprofit dedicated to humanitarian causes, has been instrumental in distributing essentials such as water, batteries, and food to affected Houstonians. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, having served approximately 2,200 families, totaling 8,500 individuals, during this critical time.
"We are immensely proud of our #Amazing1025FM interns who have shown unwavering dedication to supporting our fellow Houstonians in their time of need," expressed Amanda Sapp. "Their commitment to service and community has been truly inspiring."
"Big distribution today. People really need support. We'd like to thank our friends at Procter & Gamble, Matthew 25 (our primary supplier), our friends with Music Water, who dropped off a truckload of water this morning, our friends at Goya Foods. We are grateful to each one of our partners and all of our volunteers who are here today, lined up to help thousands of families," says Co-Founder of Bread of Life Inc., Dr. Rudy Rasmus.
The ongoing relief operations have highlighted the importance of community partnerships and volunteerism. Tomorrow, interns will continue their efforts at Trinity Midtown Church, assisting in cleanup activities to facilitate the church's restoration process.
Monday, July 15, 2024 these interns will support Bread of Life Inc.’s “Dinner To Home Program”.
This is a program where Bread Of Life, Inc. serves meals for the homeless on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 6pm -8pm at 1400 Lubbock St along with supplies like personal care items and blankets.
Reflecting on their impactful work, Bread of Life, Inc. is calling for continued support from the public. Donations of food and school supplies are urgently needed to sustain their pantry and bi-weekly drives, ensuring readiness for future emergencies.
"We invite everyone who shares our passion for helping others to join us," urged Amanda Sapp. "Your contributions, whether through donations or volunteering, make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors."
